Claudia Moraa is a 16-year-old girl and an orphan currently residing in a children’s home. She has a passion for modelling and is known to be cheerful and sociable. The children’s home relies entirely on support from well-wishers to meet the children’s basic needs, including food and healthcare. Claudia was admitted to the children’s home at the age of 11 after being rescued from the streets by city police. She reported that she had fled from her only guardian due to mistreatment and frequent denial of food. Despite her difficult past, Claudia remains hopeful and ambitious, aspiring to become a businesswoman and to one day engage in charitable work to support other children in the orphanage. The children’s home learned about Helpster Charity through a site visit by Rheemah Medical Practitioners and later through Vincent, a Helpster volunteer. Clinically, Claudia had been experiencing recurrent cold sores around her mouth for approximately one month. Four days prior to presentation, she developed chest pain, shortness of breath, and wheezing. She was initially treated with prednisolone tablets and a Ventolin inhaler, but there was no improvement. A volunteer, Sarah, subsequently brought her to Rheemah Hospital for further medical care. Upon assessment by the medical officer in charge and after relevant examinations and investigations, Claudia was diagnosed with a herpesvirus infection, bronchopneumonia, and an acute exacerbation of COPD. She was promptly started on treatment, including nebulization and intravenous adrenaline (1 mg), and was admitted for close observation.

Claudia has had cold sores on the mouth on and off for the last 1 month, 4 days ago she started experiencing chest pain , shortness of breath and wheezing . she was given some prednisolone tabs and Ventolin inhaler which did not help. Sarah who is a volunteer brought her to Rheemah Hospital for Medical assistance. Claudia was seen by medical officer in charge who examining her sent her to the lab for the test. She was diagnosed with Herpesvirus infection , Bronchopneumonia, Acute exerbation of COPD. Prompt treatment began by Nebulization and giving i.v adrenalin 1mg , and was later discharged on Po Montelukast 5mg, Po Clavuline 625mg, Acyclovir 400mg , and paracetamol 500mg after observation for 5 hrs when stable. Claudia is now doing well and back to his joyful self again.

With prompt hospitalization for observation and appropriate treatment, Claudia’s prognosis is fair to good. The early initiation of nebulization, intravenous medication, and close medical observation significantly improves her chances of recovery from bronchopneumonia and the acute exacerbation of her respiratory condition. The herpesvirus infection is also manageable with appropriate antiviral therapy and supportive care.
