Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease which is transmitted by the bite of Anopheles mosquitoes. Human malaria causes symptoms that typically include fever, fatigue, vomiting, and headaches. In severe cases, it can cause jaundice, seizures, coma, or death. Symptoms usually begin 10 to 15 days after being bitten by an infected Anopheles mosquito. If not properly treated, people may have recurrences of the disease months later. The child is suffering from severe malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, which led to sudden high fever, chills, weakness, vomiting, and anemia, requiring hospital admission and urgent treatment.

Background
Umar Ibrahim is a cheerful and curious 2-year-old boy with a playful and lively character. He enjoys simple childhood activities such as playing with toys, exploring his surroundings, listening to sounds, and interacting with people around him. Umar is affectionate, energetic when well, and shows interest in bright colors, movement, and playful games appropriate for his age. He suddenly developed high fever with chills, weakness, and vomiting for two days. Clinical examinations and investigations confirmed severe Plasmodium falciparum malaria with anemia. He was admitted to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment and close medical care.
Medical history
Umar Ibrahim, a 2-year-old boy, was admitted on 07/12/2025 with severe Plasmodium falciparum malaria. He received parenteral antimalarial therapy, intravenous fluids, antipyretics, and supportive care under close medical monitoring. After treatment, Umar responded well. Prognosis
Umar is suffering from severe malaria which is life-threatening and can result in severe anemia and possibly coma or death. With prompt treatment, Umar will recover fully from severe malaria without long-term effects. If left untreated, the infection could rapidly lead to severe complications such as anemia, organ failure, coma, or death.
