When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About chronic tonsillitis grade iii
A long-term inflammation of the tonsils where they become significantly enlarged, causing frequent sore throats and difficulty breathing or swallowing. Right Nasal Polyp A soft growth inside the right nasal passage that blocks airflow, leading to congestion, mouth breathing, and recurrent infections. Otitis Media An infection of the middle ear that causes ear pain, discharge, and reduced hearing, especially common in children. Upper Airway Obstruction A blockage in the breathing pathway caused by the enlarged tonsils and nasal polyp, leading to mouth breathing and disturbed sleep.

Background
Felix is a lively eight-year-old boy, the second of three children, being raised by his widowed mother. He loves playing football and dreams of becoming an engineer one day. His mother supports the family by doing manual laundry work, which provides for only their most basic needs. They live in an informal settlement and do not have a permanent home, a situation that exposes the family to difficult and unstable living conditions. Felix was brought for medical attention with a history of ongoing breathing difficulties, persistent mouth breathing, recurrent ear discharge, ear pain, and throat discomfort. His mother explained that financial limitations had prevented her from seeking medical care earlier. After hearing about the joint medical camp organized by Helpster Charity in collaboration with Barika Medical Centre, she brought Felix for evaluation. He was examined by the attending medical officers at the camp and was subsequently referred to the health facility for prompt and comprehensive management after being diagnosed with a nasal polyp, upper airway obstruction and chronic and recurrent tonsillitis.
Medical history
Felix Okoth was diagnosed with hypertrophied adenotonsils and successfully underwent an adenotonsillectomy procedure. He was closely monitored and well cared for in the ward until he regained strength and was ready for discharge. He is now in good condition, cheerful, and recovering well. His mother is deeply grateful for the support received from the Helpster Organization in collaboration with Barika Medical Centre. A follow up phone call, 1 week afer discharge confirmed that he is now doing well
Prognosis
Felix’s prognosis is good, given that his conditions - nasal polyps, upper airway obstruction, and chronic recurrent tonsillitis - are well-defined and has definitive surgical management. With the current medical therapy, he is expected to experience partial symptomatic relief, including reduction in inflammation, throat pain, and frequency of infections, while awaiting surgery. Medical treatment will help stabilize his condition and reduce the risk of acute complications as he awaits surgery. Following successful adenotonsillectomy and polypectomy, Felix is anticipated to have a significant and sustained improvement in breathing, resolution of upper airway obstruction, reduction or complete cessation of recurrent throat and ear infections, and improved sleep quality.
