The patient is a 37-weeks-and-2-days pregnant woman, gravida 3 and para 1, who presented with a breech presentation, a condition in which the fetus is positioned in the uterus with its bottom or feet pointing down instead of the usual head-down position. Due to this complication, the fetus was at risk of fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, and birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury and head entrapment, requiring immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.

Background
Hafiza Khatun is a gentle and hopeful young mother who dreams of building a safe home for her daughter Sumaiya and her unborn child, despite living without a permanent shelter and caring for her elderly mother-in-law, Hamida Begum. Her husband, Hamidul Islam, is mentally unstable and can only work occasionally as a day laborer, leaving the family with little to no steady income and no ability to afford emergency medical care. After already losing her first baby and undergoing a previous caesarean section, this pregnancy is especially fragile, yet at 37 weeks she developed abdominal pain and fatigue, and an ultrasound revealed a dangerous breech position. Without an immediate caesarean section, both Hafiza and her unborn baby face a serious risk of obstructed labor, injury, or even death. The family, who learned about Helpster Charity through a leaflet, now stands helpless, hoping for timely support to save a young mother and her unborn child from another tragic loss.
Medical history
Hafiza Khatun was admitted at 37 weeks and 2 days of pregnancy with a breech presentation on 23.09.2025. After proper evaluation, she underwent a lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) on the same day. The operation was successful, and a healthy baby was delivered safely. Following the surgery, she received appropriate medical management, close monitoring, and attentive nursing care. Her postoperative recovery was smooth, and both mother and baby remained in stable and secure condition. As her condition improved steadily, she was discharged in good health on 26.09.2025.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for her is LSCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life. However, if the delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from oxygen deprivation leading to fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, and birth trauma such as brachial plexus injury and head entrapment. The mother may also face life-threatening infections or complications.
