Background
Abdullah is a 17-day-old newborn living with his parents in a tin-shed rented house, where the young family struggles to meet even basic needs. His parents lovingly dream of a bright future for him, hoping he will grow up healthy and become a kind doctor one day. When Abdullah developed severe pneumonia with breathing difficulty, his condition quickly became critical, leaving his parents frightened and helpless. With no savings and limited income, the family was unable to afford the cost of hospital care on their own. Without urgent treatment, Abdullah’s illness could become life-threatening, which is why, after learning about Helpster from another patient’s guardian, his parents brought him to Narayanganj Polyclinic seeking immediate support to save their baby’s life.
Medical history
Abdullah, a 17-days-old child, had been battling recurrent respiratory tract infections for the past few months, but this time, his condition worsened as he developed severe pneumonia. Despite multiple courses of antibiotics from local pharmacies, his health continued to decline, leaving him lethargic and in a toxic state. In desperate need of emergency hospitalization, he received critical care at Narayanganj Polyclinic, including oxygen therapy, nebulization with sulbutamol, ipratropium bromide, budesonide, and injectable antibiotics, along with hydrocortisone due to the seriousness of his condition. Abdullah was admitted on 9/11/25, received treatment, and was discharged from the hospital on 15/12/25. Now, after receiving the care he needed, Abdullah is doing well and has returned home, bringing joy back to his family. With tears of gratitude in their eyes, his parents said, "Thank you to Helpster Donors and Narayanganj Polyclinic for saving our son's life; we are forever grateful for your support!"
Prognosis
The patient was suffering from severe pneumonia, which posed a life-threatening risk and required immediate treatment. Upon admission, he received emergency care, including intramuscular antibiotics, nebulization, and oxygen support, as intravenous administration was not feasible due to repeated cannula displacement. If left untreated, this condition could have led to serious lung infections, respiratory failure, sepsis, and potentially death; however, I am pleased to report that the patient is now doing well and has returned to his normal daily life, bringing smiles to his parents' faces.
