Kendi A., 4

Kendi is a 4-year-old girl living with cerebral palsy. She is the second-born in her family and stays with her two siblings, her single mother, and three aunts in her grandparents’ two-roomed mud-walled house. The household relies entirely on Kendi’s elderly grandparents, who survive through subsistence farming. Kendi’s mother first learned about Helpster Charity while at the hospital through a social worker. On the day of concern, Kendi, who is normally vulnerable due to her cerebral palsy, began vomiting each time she was fed and developed a high fever. Recognizing the urgency of her condition, her mother promptly took her to the hospital for medical care. She was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition, severe pneumonia and anemia.

Kendi is a young girl with cerebral palsy, she was brought to the hospital with complaints of hotness of the body, and vomiting. She was diagnosed with severe malnutrition, anemia and severe pneumonia. She was promptly admitted where she stayed for awhile during which she was treated on IV xpen, ceftriaxone, multivitamins among other drugs. She responded well to treatment and was discharged on orals and a follow up clinic booked for her .

Kendi was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition, moderate anemia, and pneumonia, with the added complexity of cerebral palsy. With prompt initiation of appropriate treatment - including antibiotics, nutritional rehabilitation, and supportive care - her prognosis is cautiously favorable. While her cerebral palsy presents ongoing physical challenges and increases her vulnerability to infections, with close medical supervision and continued nutritional support, she is expected to recover from the acute illnesses and improve her general health status. However, long-term management for her cerebral palsy and regular follow-ups will remain essential.
