Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About gynecology

The patient is a 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant woman, gravida 2 and para 1, who presented with oligohydramnios, a condition in which the amniotic fluid level around the baby is below normal. This can affect fetal movement and oxygen supply. Due to these complications, the fetus developed fetal distress, indicating signs of inadequate oxygenation or compromised well-being, which required immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.

Background

Akhi Akter is a 21-year-old housewife, 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant with her second child, living in a five-member family with her husband Liton Islam, their 4-year-old son Rakib, and her elderly parents-in-law. Liton works as a day laborer earning only 6,000 taka per month, making it impossible to afford emergency medical treatment. At the hospital, an ultrasound showed oligohydramnios with reduced fetal movement, and doctors advised an immediate caesarean section to prevent serious risk to both mother and baby. Without this surgery, the unborn child’s life and Akhi’s health could be in danger due to her previous caesarean history. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a leaflet and sought support for this urgent care.

Medical history

Akhi Akter was admitted with a 38 weeks and 3 days pregnancy complicated by oligohydramnios on 07.12.2025. After proper clinical evaluation, an immediate LUCS was planned due to the risk to the baby. The caesarean section was performed on the same day, and the operation was successful. A healthy baby was delivered safely. Following the surgery, Akhi Akter received appropriate medical management, regular monitoring, and attentive nursing care. Her postoperative recovery was smooth, with no complications observed. Both mother and baby remained in stable and secure condition throughout the hospital stay. She showed good improvement and was discharged in satisfactory condition on 11.12.2025.

Prognosis

The recommended treatment for her is LUCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life. However, if the delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from oxygen deprivation, leading to permanent brain damage or even death, and the mother may also face life-threatening infections or complications.
