Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About gynecology

Pinky Akter is a second-time pregnant woman at 36 weeks of gestation, currently facing a serious condition with severe oligohydramnios (very low amniotic fluid), obstructed labor, and signs of fetal distress. The prolonged and failed labor has prevented normal delivery, increasing risks for both mother and baby. The low amniotic fluid and fetal distress indicate that the baby may not be receiving adequate oxygen and support inside the womb. This is a critical, life-threatening situation that requires immediate medical intervention to ensure the safety of both mother and child.

Background

Pinky Akter is a caring and hopeful 22-year-old mother who lives with her husband, young son, and elderly in-laws in a financially struggling household. Her husband, Faisal, works as a daily laborer earning only around 9,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to support five family members, making emergency medical treatment unaffordable. Despite her hardship, Pinky is a strong and devoted mother who dreamed of a safe delivery at home, just like her first child. After prolonged labor and worsening condition, the family rushed to the hospital and learned about Helpster Charity through another beneficiary, giving them hope for support. Without immediate treatment, her condition could become life-threatening, as obstructed labor with fetal distress may lead to the loss of the baby and serious complications, including risk to the mother’s life.

Medical history

After experiencing labour pain for more than 24 hours with failed home trial over 36+ weeks of her pregnancy , she arrived at our hospital at 7.00AM in 17th December 2025, where doctors performed an ultrasound and clinical examination that revealed obstructed labor with severe oligohydramnios with fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful male baby. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 20th December 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.

Prognosis

Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) is a life-saving procedure for Pinky Akter in this critical condition. With timely surgery, the baby can be delivered safely, reducing the risk of oxygen deprivation and preventing further complications for both mother and child. After the operation, Pinky is expected to recover well with proper care, and her baby has a strong chance of survival and good health. However, if left untreated, obstructed labor with fetal distress can rapidly become life-threatening. The baby may suffer from severe oxygen shortage, leading to stillbirth or permanent damage, while the mother may face serious complications such as uterine rupture, severe bleeding, or infection. Immediate surgical intervention is therefore essential to save both lives.
