Background
Shahida Khatun is a hardworking and caring 24-year-old mother who lives with her husband, Abdul Malek, and their 5-year-old son, Sajid Ahmed Shuvo, in a small tin-shed house. Her husband earns only around 5,000 taka per month as a day laborer, which is barely enough to provide food and basic necessities, making it impossible for them to afford the medical costs of her pregnancy care. Shahida, gentle and hopeful, sometimes earns a little through tailoring, but her income is irregular and cannot cover emergency treatment. Without proper medical support, her breech pregnancy and severe abdominal pain could lead to life-threatening complications for both her and her unborn baby during delivery. The family learned about Helpster Charity through the staff of CSDK, giving them hope for the urgent care Shahida needs to safely welcome her child and continue caring for her young son.
Medical history
Shahida Khatun was admitted to the hospital for a planned C-section due to her 36-week pregnancy and breech presentation. The surgery was successfully performed under the supervision of an experienced medical team. A healthy baby was delivered safely, and both mother and child remained stable throughout the procedure. After the operation, Shahida received proper post-surgical care, including antibiotics and pain management, and her recovery progressed smoothly. Within a few days, she was able to move comfortably and care for her newborn. Both mother and baby are now healthy, and Shahida feels relieved and grateful after a safe delivery and successful recovery.
Prognosis
The doctor has explained that with timely medical care, including a planned cesarean section, both Shahida and her baby have a high chance of a safe delivery and good health. Proper management of her breech presentation and preterm pregnancy can significantly reduce risks such as fetal distress, prolonged labor, excessive bleeding, or other complications during delivery. However, if left untreated or if a normal delivery is attempted, it could lead to serious, potentially life-threatening consequences for both mother and baby. Close monitoring and prompt surgical intervention are essential to ensure the best possible outcome, giving her baby the highest chance of being born healthy and thriving.
