About infections
A severe urinary tract infection is an infection of the urinary system, often caused by bacteria such as E. coli, that affects the bladder and sometimes the kidneys. Patients usually present with high-grade fever, lower abdominal or flank pain, painful and frequent urination, urgency, and occasionally blood in urine. Severe infections require prompt medical treatment with antibiotics, hydration, and monitoring, as untreated UTI can lead to kidney damage or systemic infection.

Background
Fatima Salisu is a 9-year-old girl from a modest family. She enjoys helping her mother with cooking and household chores, loves reading storybooks, and plays with her younger siblings. Fatima dreams of becoming a nurse in the future so she can care for sick children in her community. She has generally been healthy, with no chronic illnesses or previous surgeries. Fatima Salisu, a 9-year-old female, presented with high-grade fever, lower abdominal pain, and painful urination for 3 days. She also had frequent urination, urgency, and occasional blood-stained urine. Her parents noted that she was lethargic and complained of back pain at times. There was no history of vomiting, diarrhea, or prior urinary tract problems. She had been in her usual state of health before the onset of these symptoms. No known drug allergies or previous surgeries. Diagnosis: severe urinary tract infection. Management plan: Started on intravenous antibiotics, analgesics, and hydration with close monitoring of urine output and response to therapy.
Medical history
After falling seriously ill with fever,lower abdominal pain and painful urination for 3 days, Fatima struggled to keep up with school and daily life. Her family, worried and without enough money for treatment, turned to Helpster Charity for support. Thanks to Helpster Charity, she was evaluated and investigated in UMD hospital and diagnosed with Severe Urinary tract infection. She was admitted and had antibiotics,intravenous fluids with other supportive treatment in the hospital for 3 days. Slowly, she recovered, symptoms subsided, and she regained her strength. She was discharged home with her parents, and she can enjoy his childhood and return to school. Prognosis
Fatima based on the radiologist and clinical findings, is diagnosis with Severe urinary Tract Infection (UTI). which is a medical emergency and can be a life-threatening condition when it spreads to the kidneys.This requires a prompt treatment. The doctor's opinion is that she had a severe illness requiring urgent intervention, the prognosis is currently good given the documented clinical improvement and stable condition following admission and treatment.
