Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Cystitis is an inflammation of the urinary bladder, most commonly caused by a bacterial infection. It usually occurs when bacteria enter through the urethra and travel up into the bladder. The condition is characterized by symptoms such as frequent and urgent urination, a burning sensation during urination, lower abdominal pain or pressure, and urine that may appear cloudy or have a strong odor. In some cases, there may be blood in the urine. Individuals may also feel generally unwell or fatigued due to discomfort and interrupted sleep. If not treated promptly, cystitis can progress and spread to the kidneys, resulting in more serious complications. Early medical evaluation and appropriate treatment are therefore essential to relieve symptoms and prevent further health risks.

Background
Ruth is the third-born in a family of four children and is currently in Grade Three at a rural junior school. She is a kind, polite, and respectful child who relates well with her parents and others around her. Ruth enjoys reading simple storybooks, playing with friends, and helping with small household chores. She also loves outdoor games and spending time in the natural surroundings of her village. Her mother runs a small-scale business that supports the family, earning an average monthly profit of about KSh 2,500. Despite their modest income, Ruth dreams of becoming a teacher in the future so she can help educate and inspire other children, especially within her community. Two days prior to seeking medical care, Ruth began experiencing severe lower abdominal pain, fever, and painful urination (dysuria), which prevented her from attending school. At the time, the family was facing financial difficulties and was unable to afford the necessary medication for her treatment. Fortunately, a community volunteer informed them about Helpster Charity and advised them to take Ruth to Mechimeru Hospital, where she could receive medical care with support from the organization.
Medical history
Ruth’s condition was treated with a short course of antibiotics to eliminate the bacterial infection, along with advice to drink plenty of fluids to flush the bladder and rest to reduce discomfort. Pain relief was used as needed for burning and urgency when urinating. The treatment was effective. Symptoms eased within a few days and cleared completely after the antibiotics were finished, with no lasting complications.
Prognosis
Ruth has been diagnosed with cystitis, a common urinary tract infection affecting the bladder. Based on her clinical presentation and diagnostic findings, the condition was identified early and appropriate treatment has been initiated. Ruth’s prognosis is very good. Most uncomplicated cases of cystitis resolve completely within a few days of starting appropriate therapy.
