Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Two-month-old Sownaira is a sweet and lively baby who lives with her parents and grandmother in a small rented tin-shed house. Her father earns only 8,000 BDT per month, which is the family’s only income and barely covers rent and daily expenses, leaving no savings for emergency medical care. Recently, her cough and cold worsened into severe pneumonia, causing fever and breathing difficulties that required immediate hospital admission. Without proper treatment, her condition could become life-threatening and put her fragile life at serious risk. The family learned about Helpster Charity from community members and another patient’s guardian at Narayanganj Poly Clinic, and they are now seeking assistance to ensure Sownaira receives the urgent care she needs.

Medical history

Sownaira 2 month-old child, had been battling recurrent respiratory tract infections for the past few months, but this time, her condition worsened as he developed severe pneumonia. Despite multiple courses of antibiotics from local pharmacies, her health continued to decline, leaving him lethargic and in a toxic state. In desperate need of emergency hospitalization, she received critical care at Narayanganj Polyclinic, including oxygen therapy, nebulization with sulbutamol, ipratropium bromide, budesonide, and injectable antibiotics, along with hydrocortisone due to the seriousness of his condition. Sownaira was admitted on 16/01/26, received treatment, and was discharged from the hospital on 21/01/26. Now, after receiving the care she needed, Sownaira is doing well and has returned home, bringing joy back to his family. With tears of gratitude in their eyes, her parents said, "Thank you to Helpster Donors and Narayanganj Polyclinic ; we are forever grateful for your support!"

Prognosis

According to the doctors, hospitalization with close monitoring, intravenous antibiotics, nebulization, and supportive therapy can significantly improve the child’s condition and prevent further complications. With timely and complete treatment, the infection is expected to resolve, allowing the child to breathe comfortably again and return to normal growth and development. Early medical care also reduces the risk of long-term lung damage or recurrent infections. However, if left untreated, the infection could rapidly worsen, leading to severe breathing failure, spread of infection in the body, or even become life-threatening. Prompt treatment is therefore essential to protect the child’s life and ensure a healthy future.
