Blessing is the only child in her family. She lives with her parents in a single-room mud-walled house. Her mother is unemployed and depends entirely on Blessing’s father, who is the sole breadwinner. He supports the family through casual labour and occasional work in the local gold mines. When well, Blessing is described as a bright, cheerful, and happy child. According to her mother, Blessing initially developed a high fever and headache. She was given over-the-counter medication in the hope that her condition would improve. Although she seemed to feel slightly better, later that evening she went to sleep as usual. During the night, her mother heard unusual groaning sounds and rushed to check on her. She found Blessing extremely hot, stiff, and unresponsive, with her eyes fixed in one position. Alarmed by her daughter’s critical condition, the mother tried to find a motorbike for transport but was unsuccessful. With no other option, she carried Blessing and walked to the hospital in the middle of the night to seek urgent medical care. While at the hospital, Blessing’s parents learned about Helpster Charity. A healthcare worker, while reviewing their ability to pay for treatment and insurance status, informed them about the organisation that supports vulnerable children who cannot afford medical care. After an assessment by the social worker confirmed the family’s financial vulnerability, Blessing was enrolled for support under Helpster Charity and received the necessary medical treatment.

Blessing was brought to the hospital with complaints of headache, episodes of convulsions and diarrhea. She was diagnosed with severe malaria and septicemia.this prompted admission to the ward, she was administered IV Artesunate, gentamicin, ORS after every loosed stool among other drugs. She responded well to medication and was eventually discharged on orals. A visit to her home revealed she was wells and had gone back to her normal life

Blessing was diagnosed with severe malaria and septicaemia, both of which are serious and life-threatening conditions that required urgent medical intervention. She was promptly started on intravenous antimalarial treatment, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and supportive care. Following timely and appropriate treatment, Blessing’s condition is expected to gradually improve.
