When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Typhoid fever is a serious bacterial infection by Salmonella typhi, spread via contaminated food/water, causing high fever, headache, fatigue, abdominal pain (constipation/diarrhea), and sometimes rose-colored spots, with severe cases leading to confusion, bleeding, or perforation, treatable with antibiotics but requiring prompt medical care. Symptoms start gradually 1-3 weeks after exposure, progressing from flu-like feelings to severe illness, and can be fatal if untreated. Severe diarrhea is defined as passing more than 10 loose, watery, or explosive stools within 24 hours, often occurring every 20-30 minutes. This condition causes rapid, significant loss of water and salts (electrolytes), leading to high risks of dehydration. It is commonly accompanied by high fever, severe abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and sometimes blood or mucus in the stool.

Background
Nevian is a 12-year-old boy, the third-born in a family of five, and he has a twin brother. He is calm, enjoys reading, and dreams of becoming a pilot. After the death of his father, his mother became the sole provider and caregiver for the family. Nevian lives with his mother and siblings in a one-bedroom semi-permanent house, and his mother earns a living by selling foodstuffs at a local market to support the household. Nevian began feeling unwell four days before visiting the hospital. One morning, while preparing for school, he developed headache, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhoea (three episodes), chills, and general body weakness. Despite feeling unwell, he still went to school, but his condition worsened during the day. He was quickly rushed to the health facility, and his mother was contacted and informed about his condition. At presentation, Nevian appeared weak and ill, complaining of severe headache, fever, body pain, and diarrhoea. His mother had heard about Helpster Charity from a neighbour whose child had previously received support, and the organization is also well known in the school community because of its proximity to the health facility.
Medical history
NEVIAN WAS TREATED WITH IV FLUIDS, ANTIBIOTICS, ANTIPYRETICS, AND OTHER MEDICATIONS AS PER MEDICAL REPORT. HE RESPONDED SO WELL TO THE MANAGEMENT HE WAS GIVEN, HE BECAME STABLE AND WAS DISCHARGED WITH ORAL MEDICATIONS TO COMPLETE AT HOME. A FOLLOWUP CALL CONFIRMED THAT NEVIAN WAS DOING WELL AND WAS ATTENDING SCHOOL AS USUAL.
Prognosis
Nevian was diagnosed with typhoid fever, a serious bacterial infection that commonly presents with high fever, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, weakness, and headache. At admission, he appeared clinically unwell and dehydrated, requiring prompt treatment with antibiotics, fluids, and close monitoring to prevent complications such as intestinal bleeding or perforation. Early hospital care was essential to stabilize his condition and ensure recovery. With timely and complete treatment, Nevian’s prognosis is good, and he is expected to recover fully.
