Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Humayra is only 3 months old, a small and vulnerable baby whose parents wish for her to grow up healthy and happy. Her father, Md. Hamidul Islam, works as a van driver earning only 6,000 taka per month, while her mother, Sumaiya Akter Borsha, a 24-year-old housewife, cares for Humayra, her siblings, and their grandmother. The family has no permanent home and lives in fragile housing conditions, making it very difficult to manage daily expenses, let alone sudden medical costs. Humayra became seriously ill with diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and weakness, and the doctor advised immediate hospital admission for proper treatment. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a health worker, and her father came seeking support because without treatment, Humayra’s condition could become life-threatening.

Medical history

Humayra was admitted with acute watery diarrhoea and severe dehydration on 17.01.2026. She received proper medical treatment along with careful nursing management during her hospital stay. Gradually, her condition improved, and she became stable and safe. After successful treatment and recovery, Humayra was discharged on 24.01.2024.

Prognosis

The doctor has recommended immediate hospital admission for Humayra so she can receive proper hydration, feeding, and other supportive care. With timely treatment, her fluid levels can be restored, her weakness will improve, and she will have a strong chance of making a full recovery. Supportive therapy will help her body regain strength and prevent further complications. However, if she is left untreated, her dehydration may worsen rapidly, leading to severe illness and possible organ failure. Without urgent care, this condition could become life-threatening for such a young child.
