Background
Md. Imran Ali is a determined and hopeful 16-year-old boy who lives in a small tin-made house with his parents and five other family members. His father is a day laborer earning around 9,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to feed and support the seven-member family, leaving no savings for proper medical care. For the past seven days, Imran has been suffering from continuous high fever, headache, and cough, and he was recently diagnosed with enteric fever at Jamuna Clinic after his condition failed to improve with local medicines. Despite his illness, he dreams of continuing his education and playing football again, but his family cannot afford the full course of treatment and necessary follow-up. If left untreated, enteric fever can lead to serious complications such as intestinal bleeding or infection spreading in the body, which could become life-threatening; therefore, after learning about Helpster through village doctor Jahidul Islam and Bablu Abdullah, his family has sought financial assistance for his recovery.
Medical history
Md. Imran Ali was admitted to the hospital on January 24, 2026, with a high fever. Following a medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with enteric fever. After receiving five days of treatment, his condition improved significantly, and he was discharged on January 28, 2026, in good health. His mother and grandmother accompanied him during the hospital stay and were present at the time of discharge. His mother expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated treatment and support. His grandmother was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster, which played a crucial role in ensuring timely and proper medical care.
Prognosis
The doctor has advised immediate hospitalization with parenteral (injectable) antibiotic therapy along with supportive care to effectively treat Imran’s enteric fever. With timely and complete treatment, his fever is expected to subside, his strength will gradually return, and he will be able to resume his normal daily activities, including school and sports. Proper medical supervision will also help prevent dehydration and other complications. However, if left untreated or inadequately treated, enteric fever can lead to serious complications such as intestinal bleeding, intestinal perforation, or widespread infection in the body. In severe cases, these complications can become life-threatening, making prompt hospital-based treatment essential for his full recovery.
