Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Md. Shihab is a 2-month-old adorable baby who has been suffering from fever, cough, breathing difficulty, and chest indrawing, making him very weak and unwell. His father, Md. Sabuj Alom, is a day laborer earning only 6,000 taka per month, and with five family members including his mother Shorifa Khatun, elder brother Shafayet Hossain, and younger brother Najmus Sakib, the family cannot afford sudden hospital expenses. They live in a canal-side area in fragile conditions, where managing daily needs is already very difficult. The family learned about HelpSter Charity through a health worker and came to the hospital seeking support for Shihab’s treatment. The doctor diagnosed him with pneumonia and bronchiolitis, and without timely admission and proper care, his breathing problem could worsen and become life-threatening for such a young child.

Medical history

Md. Shihab was admitted to the hospital on 17.01.2026 with a diagnosis of pneumonia with bronchiolitis and RTI. After admission, he received appropriate medical management, including prescribed medications, oxygen support as needed, and continuous nursing care. His vital signs and respiratory condition were closely monitored throughout the treatment period. With proper treatment and supportive care, his condition gradually improved, and his fever, respiratory distress, and cough resolved. After ensuring that he was stable and in a secure condition, he was discharged on 24.01.2026 in improved health, with advice for follow-up and home care.

Prognosis

The doctor has advised hospital admission with antibiotic therapy, nebulization, oxygen support, and other supportive care to help Md. Shihab recover safely. With proper treatment, his infection can be controlled, his breathing will improve, and he will regain strength to feed and grow normally. Oxygen therapy and nebulization will reduce his respiratory distress and prevent further complications. However, if he is left untreated, pneumonia and bronchiolitis can worsen quickly in such a young infant, leading to severe breathing failure and life-threatening conditions. Timely hospital care is essential to save his life and ensure a healthy future.
