When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Acute appendicitis is the sudden, severe inflammation of the appendix, a small, finger-shaped pouch attached to the large intestine. It is a medical emergency because an inflamed appendix can rupture within 48 to 72 hours of symptom onset, potentially causing a life-threatening infection of the abdominal cavity (peritonitis). Acute appendicitis occurs when the appendix becomes inflamed and filled with pus. It usually causes severe pain in the lower right side of the abdomen, along with vomiting and fever.”

Background
Martian is the first child in a family of five. She has two siblings. They all live together in 1room rented apartment. She enjoys singing and reading, and she aspires to become a registered nurse. Her father is a subsistence farmer, and her mother works together with him on the farm. She has been having abdominal pain in the right iliac fosse and the pain refer to the umbilicus , she has been on antibiotics with analgesics on various occasion with little improvement. On presentation at our hospital, she was evaluated and diagnosed with Acute Appendicitis and requires urgent surgical intervention.
Medical history
She was evaluated clinically and diagnosed with acute appendicitis, she was admitted into our facility on the 26th of January. She was immediately scheduled and she underwent an appendectomy (surgical removal of the inflamed appendix). The surgery was successful, the appendix was removed, appropriate antibiotics was given and she recovered well. Her pain and infection were resolved, recovery progressed satisfactorily and she was discharged home and she was able to return to normal activities without complications. Her family and parents are grateful to Helpster charity for the free surgery.
Prognosis
Gabriel is suffering from an Acutely inflamed Appendix and the complications of acute appendicitis is a rupture (perforation), which can occur within 48 to 72 hours of symptom onset and lead to life-threatening peritonitis (widespread infection of the abdominal lining) or sepsis. Other serious risks include the formation of an appendiceal abscess (a walled-off pocket of pus) or pylephlebitis, a rare but dangerous infection of the veins leading to the liver If appendicitis is not treated promptly, it can lead to serious complications, the most severe being a ruptured appendix. When the appendix ruptures, bacteria are released into the abdomen, which can cause a dangerous infection known as peritonitis. This condition can be life-threatening. In some cases, an abscess (a pocket of infection) may also form. The standard treatment for appendicitis is surgical removal of the appendix, a procedure called an appendectomy.”
