About infections
Muazam Abdulahi was found to be suffering from severe malaria, which caused persistent high fever, chills, body aches, headaches, and extreme weakness, leaving him too exhausted to play, eat, or carry out normal daily activities. He also had enteric fever, leading to prolonged fever, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite, which further drained his body of essential nutrients and left him extremely frail. In addition, he had an upper respiratory tract infection (URTI), which caused persistent coughing, nasal congestion, and difficulty breathing, making him restless, short of breath, and unable to sleep comfortably. He was also affected by dermatitis, which caused red, itchy, and painful rashes on his skin, adding to his discomfort and making it difficult for him to rest or move freely.

Background
Muazam Abdulahi is a 10-year-old boy attending a government school in Tashan Bama, Maiduguri. He lives with his parents and four siblings in a small apartment and dreams of becoming a doctor. His mother supports the family by knitting caps, while his father works as a petty trader and mason. He presented with persistent high fever, chills, severe weakness, cough, breathing difficulty, nasal congestion, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin rashes, leading to marked fatigue and inability to carry out daily activities. Due to worsening symptoms and concern for his life, he was brought to Nakowa Hospital and admitted under the Helpster Charity Program for urgent medical care and close monitoring.
Medical history
10 year old Muazam Abdulahi was admitted to Nakowa Hospital under the Helpster Charity Program in a serious condition with high fever, severe weakness, cough, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and painful skin rashes. He received treatment including IV Artesunate, Lonart DS, Plmil, IV Ceftriaxone, Erythromycin, IV Paracetamol, Vitamin C, Triple Action cream, fluids, and nutritional support to treat malaria, infection, and skin lesions. With close monitoring and care, Muazam’s fever reduced, his cough and stomach symptoms improved, his rashes began healing, and his strength gradually returned. He was discharged in stable condition after significant recovery, with advice for continued care. His mother sincerely thanks Helpster Charity for covering his medical bills and providing the urgent treatment that helped save her son’s life.
Prognosis
Muazam’s health is fragile but treatable, and with proper medical care, he is expected to recover fully. The treatment he receives will help bring down his fever, reduce his weakness, and relieve his stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, allowing him to regain strength and energy. His cough and breathing difficulties will gradually improve, and the irritation and redness on his skin will heal completely. His body needs time, rest, and proper nutrition to rebuild strength, and he will need follow-up care to make sure he stays healthy. With consistent treatment and care, Muazam has a strong chance of returning to school, playing with his friends, and enjoying normal childhood activities, while regaining the energy and vitality that the illnesses had taken from him.
