Kelsy K., 1

Kelsy is the first and only child of a single mother. She lives with her mother and grandparents in a three-room mud-walled house. Her mother recently finished school and currently depends on her parents, who are peasant farmers, for support. Kelsy is described as a jovial and cheerful child. Her mother reported that Kelsy had been well until one night when she suddenly developed vomiting and multiple episodes of diarrhoea. By morning, Kelsy had become extremely weak, very pale, and nearly semi-conscious. The diarrhoea was so frequent that her mother had to wrap her in cloth to act as a diaper as they rushed her to the hospital for urgent care. They learned about Helpster Charity through community members who had previously received assistance and were advised to seek help at the health facility so that Kelsy could receive the treatment she urgently needed.

Kelsy was brought to the hospital with complaints of vomiting and diarrhea, she was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis and septicemia which warranted admission. He was promptly admitted and while in the ward she was administered ceftriaxone, AL, paracetamol, ORS after every loose stool. Kelsy eventually recovered and was discharged on orals

Kelsy arrived at the hospital in a critical condition, and after assessment she was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis complicated by severe dehydration and septicaemia. The combination of persistent diarrhoea, vomiting, extreme weakness, and pallor indicated that the infection had progressed and spread into the bloodstream, placing her life at serious risk. She required urgent admission for intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and close monitoring to stabilize her condition and prevent further complications. With timely hospital treatment and continued follow-up, Kelsy is expected to recover well and regain her strength. However, without urgent medical care, her condition could have quickly become life-threatening.
