Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Radiya Jannat is a sweet and playful two-year-old girl who lives with her parents, elder sister Ummay Habiba, and uncle in a five-member family. Her father, Md. Belal Hossain, works as a day laborer earning around 7,000 taka per month, which is barely enough to provide food and basic needs for the household, leaving no savings for hospital treatment. For the past seven days, Radiya has been suffering from high fever, cough, and breathing difficulty, and doctors at Jamuna Clinic have diagnosed her with pneumonia. Her mother stays by her side day and night, while her little sister and uncle watch helplessly as she struggles to breathe. If she does not receive proper and timely treatment, the infection may worsen and become life-threatening, which is why her family sought assistance after learning about Helpster from Likhon Mia and contacting Volunteer Bablu Abdullah.

Medical history

Radiya Jannat was admitted to the hospital on February 01, 2026, with a high fever, cough and breathlessness. Following a medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. After receiving five days of treatment, her condition improved significantly, and she was discharged on February 06, 2026,, in good health. Her father and grandmother accompanied her during the hospital stay and were present at the time of discharge. Her father expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated treatment and support. Her mother was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster, which played a crucial role in ensuring timely and proper medical care.

Prognosis

The doctor has advised immediate hospitalization with antibiotic therapy and supportive care to effectively treat Radiya’s pneumonia. With timely and complete treatment, her fever and breathing difficulty are expected to gradually improve, allowing her to return to her normal playful and active life. Proper hospital care will also help prevent complications and ensure her lungs heal properly. However, if left untreated, the infection may worsen quickly, leading to severe breathing problems or the spread of infection in the body. In a young child, such complications can become life-threatening, making urgent medical care essential for her recovery and safety.
