Onaisa Bibi, a two-year-old Rohingya refugee child, lives with her parents Abdu Salam and Rashida Bibi in a small makeshift shelter made of bamboo and tarpaulin in the refugee camps of Bangladesh. Her father struggles to support the family with very limited and irregular income, making it difficult for them to meet even their daily needs, let alone afford medical treatment. Onaisa is a gentle and innocent child who brings great joy to her parents despite the challenges she faces with speaking and feeding due to her tongue condition. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Ahammod Ali Azad, which gave them hope for medical support. Without proper treatment, her feeding difficulties may worsen and lead to poor nutrition, choking during feeding, and repeated infections, which in a young child can become serious and potentially life-threatening while also affecting her speech development and overall growth.

Onisa Bibi, a 02-year-old female child, was admitted on 12.03.2026 with complaints of difficulty in speaking and delayed speech development since early childhood. She also had restricted tongue movement, making it difficult to protrude her tongue, along with feeding difficulties associated with pain, discomfort, irritability, and occasional refusal to feed. During hospitalization, she was diagnosed with ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) and underwent successful frenuloplasty under general anesthesia. She received appropriate post-operative care with regular monitoring of vital signs. Her hospital stay was uneventful, and she showed gradual clinical improvement with supportive management over 4 days. She was discharged on 16.03.2026 in stable condition with medications, dietary advice, and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity. The family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their compassionate support and care.

Doctors have recommended frenuloplasty under general anesthesia, followed by proper post-operative care and follow-up. This procedure will release the tight tissue under the tongue and allow Onaisa Bibi to move her tongue more freely. With successful treatment, her ability to eat, swallow, and develop speech is expected to improve significantly, helping her grow and communicate more normally as she gets older. Early treatment will also reduce feeding discomfort and support better nutrition and overall development. However, if the condition is left untreated, she may continue to face serious feeding difficulties, poor nutrition, speech delay, and repeated choking risks, which in a young child can become dangerous and potentially life-threatening.
