Background
Most Shahanaz Akter, a widowed mother of one, is now 38 weeks pregnant and facing a high-risk delivery after doctors at Jamuna Clinic diagnosed a breech baby with fetal distress. Since her husband passed away from a stroke during her pregnancy, she has been surviving on a small government allowance that barely covers basic needs for herself and her child, leaving her with no savings for medical care. Despite her grief and hardship, she remains a strong and caring mother, determined to give birth safely and raise her children with love. Doctors have advised an urgent cesarean section to save both mother and baby, but she cannot afford the cost of surgery. After learning from Dr. Jony that Helpster provides financial support for underprivileged patients, she met with Bablu Abdullah to share her situation, hoping this assistance will save her life and her unborn child.
Medical history
Mst. Shahanaz Akter was admitted to the hospital on February 03, 2026, with a diagnosis of breech presentation. On the same day, she successfully underwent a cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Both mother and newborn remained in good condition and were discharged on February 07, 2026. Upon discharge, her mother and mother-in-law came to the hospital to receive both the mother and the newborn. The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated treatment and continuous support throughout the process. Prognosis
Doctors have advised an urgent Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) as the safest option to deliver the baby due to breech presentation and signs of fetal distress. With timely surgical intervention, both mother and child have a strong chance of safe delivery and recovery, preventing complications during labor. The procedure will reduce the risk of oxygen deprivation to the baby and serious bleeding or uterine rupture for the mother. However, if the surgery is delayed or not performed, prolonged obstructed labor could endanger the baby’s life and may lead to severe complications for Shahanaz, including life-threatening bleeding or infection. Immediate medical care is therefore essential to protect both lives and ensure a safe outcome.
