Mohammad Mostafa is a fragile one-month-and-22-day-old baby boy who lives with his parents and three sisters in a modest rural home in Narayanganj. His father, Md. Russel Hossain, works as a farmer on others’ land and earns around 9,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to support their six-member family and leaves no savings for advanced hospital care. Recently, after food accidentally entered his airway, Mostafa developed severe pneumonia that later progressed into a serious blood infection. His condition worsened with breathing difficulty and high fever, leaving the family extremely worried. Mostafa was initially admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic with severe respiratory distress. Unfortunately, despite treatment, his condition continued to deteriorate at the clinic. Realizing the urgency and the need for specialized care, the medical team at Narayanganj Poly Clinic communicated with Helpster Volunteer Country Manager Dr. Shahid. Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Dr. Shahid immediately took the initiative to arrange the baby's transfer to a Helpster partner specialized hospital. At midnight, the child was urgently shifted to Olympus Hospital, where a specialized medical team and NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) facility were available

The patient Mohammad Mostafa, aged 1 month 22 days, was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 03 February 2026 with the diagnosis of Severe Pneumonia with Septicemia. Prior to this, he received initial treatment at Narayanganj Polyclinic, but due to worsening respiratory distress and infection, he required advanced hospital care. At Olympus Hospital, he underwent intensive medical management including oxygen support, intravenous antibiotics, nebulization, and close monitoring. After gradual improvement in his condition, he was discharged on 15 February 2026 with advice for continued medication and regular follow-up. The patient’s family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity for providing financial and medical support during this critical period of his treatment.

The doctors have advised immediate treatment with NG feeding to ensure proper nutrition, broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics to control the severe infections, and close monitoring with supportive care in the hospital. With timely and complete treatment, the lung infection and blood infection can be controlled, his breathing will gradually improve, and his overall condition is expected to stabilize. Proper nutritional support will help him regain strength and support his growth and recovery. However, if left untreated, the infections may rapidly worsen, leading to severe breathing failure, spread of infection throughout the body, and organ damage. In such a young infant, these complications can quickly become life-threatening, making urgent and continuous medical care essential.
