Umme Kulsum, a quiet and emotionally strong young girl living as Forcible Displace Myanmar National at Camp 03, Block A5, lives with her parents and eight siblings in a fragile shelter where the family survives solely on limited UNHCR assistance. Despite hardship, she spends her days helping her mother with household chores and finds comfort sitting with her sisters in the evening, reciting lessons they remember from school before displacement. After sustaining an accidental injury that likely caused a forearm fracture, she has been unable to properly move her hand and continues to suffer from pain, but specialized orthopedic treatment is not available inside the camp. With no regular income and such a large family to support, her parents cannot afford outside hospital care or imaging costs. Without timely treatment, the fracture may heal improperly, leading to permanent deformity, chronic pain, or lifelong disability; after learning from volunteer Ahamad Ali Azad about Helpster Charity, the family is seeking support to restore their daughter’s ability to live and learn normally.

Umme Kulsum, a 3-year-old girl, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 4th February 2026 with severe pain and swelling in her right elbow after an accidental injury, where she was diagnosed with a fracture near the elbow joint and promptly treated with immobilization using a Plaster of Paris (POP) cast to ensure proper alignment and healing; with the generous support of Helpster Charity, she received timely treatment and careful monitoring, and was discharged on 6th February 2026 in stable condition with advice for limb care and follow-up physiotherapy, marking a positive change in her young life and bringing relief and gratitude to her family

Doctors have advised gentle closed reduction followed by immobilization with an above-elbow Plaster of Paris (POP) cast, keeping the elbow in proper flexion to ensure correct bone alignment and healing. With timely treatment, elevation of the limb, and adequate pain management, Umme Kulsum is expected to recover well and gradually regain full movement and strength in her arm. Proper immobilization will allow the fractured bone to heal in the correct position, preventing long-term complications. However, if left untreated or improperly managed, the fracture could heal in a wrong position, leading to permanent deformity, restricted movement, nerve damage, or lifelong disability. Early orthopedic care is therefore crucial to protect the normal function of her growing arm.
