Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Septicaemia, often referred to as blood poisoning, is defined as the presence of bacteria or other germs in the bloodstream, which can cause serious infections in organs and tissues. It is a precursor to or cause of sepsis, a severe, life-threatening response where the body’s immune system reacts to infection, potentially leading to organ failure, septic shock, and death.

Background
Fidel is the last-born in a family of seven and a 13-year-old Grade Seven student at a local school. He comes from a low-income household where his mother is the sole provider, working casual jobs to support the family, while his father is unemployed. Fidel enjoys playing football and dreams of becoming an engineer. One day after school, Fidel returned home feeling very unwell, with a severe headache, fever, cough, chest pain, and loss of appetite. He was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care. On arrival, he appeared very weak and distressed, lethargic, febrile, and unable to sit or walk without support. His persistent cough and chest pain made breathing uncomfortable, and he looked visibly exhausted, requiring immediate medical attention and close monitoring. His mother had no means to pay the hospital bills, but after hearing about Helpster Charity from a neighbour who had previously received assistance, she requested similar support for her son.
Medical history
Fidel came complaining of headache, vomiting and lose of appetite and was admitted and started on intravenous antibiotics - Xpen / Genta. Today the patient is stable enough to go home.
Prognosis
Fidel was diagnosed with septicaemia, a serious bloodstream infection that can quickly affect multiple body systems if not treated urgently. At admission, he required immediate hospital care, intravenous antibiotics, fluids, and close monitoring to control the infection and stabilize his condition. Encouragingly, with timely treatment and continued follow-up, Fidel is on a strong path toward regaining his health. As he completes his medication and continues clinic reviews, he should steadily rebuild his strength and return to his normal school and daily activities.
