Six-year-old Joy Das is a bright and gentle boy who once loved attending Class 1 and dreams of continuing his education to support his parents one day. He lives in a small tin-made house in Titas Upazila with his father Joni Das, a security guard earning only 8,000 BDT per month, his mother Monika Das, his little sister Joysree, and his grandmother Suniti Das. With such limited income, the family struggles to meet daily needs, making it impossible to afford cataract surgeries for both Joy and his three-year-old sister, who also faces the same condition. Without urgent treatment, Joy may lose his eyesight permanently and never return to school, while Joysree’s visual development could be irreversibly damaged. After learning about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter at the hospital, the devastated family reached out with hope to save their children’s vision and future.

Joy Das, a 6-year-old child, required urgent cataract surgery in the noth eyes as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia on 31.01.2026 at Right eye and on 18.04.2026 at Left Eye by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The treatment progressed smoothly, with the medical team carefully monitoring him during and after surgery. As healing began, he showed steady improvement, responding well to the treatment plan. The cataract removal successfully restored clarity, and visual acuity improved remarkably. Now he feels much more comfortable and can see clearly, which will greatly support healthy visual growth. This positive outcome has brought immense relief and joy to the family. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, both Joy and Joysree urgently require cataract surgery in both eyes to remove the cloudy lenses and restore clear vision. The doctors are hopeful that with timely surgery, Joy can resume his education and Joysree can develop normal visual function during her early developmental years. However, the doctors have warned that delaying surgery may result in irreversible blindness due to long-term visual deprivation. The total cost for cataract surgery in both eyes is approximately BDT 81,000, which is far beyond the family’s financial capacity.
