Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Laizu Akter, a cheerful and gentle 9-year-old girl, lives with her parents Liton Topader and Aleya Begum, and her elder sister Lamia in a small rural home where her father’s monthly income of around 7,500 BDT is barely enough to cover food and education expenses. Despite financial hardship, Laizu is a bright student who enjoys school and dreams of building a better future for her family. She has developed a growth in her left eye, which has gradually worsened and now affects her comfort, confidence, and daily activities. Her family cannot afford the cost of surgery needed to treat her condition, as they have no savings beyond their basic needs. Without timely treatment, the condition may worsen and lead to permanent loss of vision, affecting her future and daily life; the family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akter, a hospital counselor, and Md Al Amin, a volunteer, and are now seeking support for her treatment.

Medical history

Laizu Akter, a 9-year-old girl, required excision surgery for dermolymphoma in her left eye as the condition was causing discomfort and affecting her vision. The surgery was successfully performed under anesthesia on 08.02.2026 by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital. The treatment went smoothly, and she responded well during the recovery period under close medical supervision. After the surgery, she felt much more comfortable and her visual acuity improved significantly. She can now see clearly, and her family is very grateful for the successful outcome. Special thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for supporting her treatment and helping restore her vision.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Laizu urgently requires Excision of Dermolymphoma surgery in her left eye. The doctors have explained that successful surgery can remove the abnormal tissue, improve the appearance of the eye, prevent further complications, and help restore normal comfort and confidence in her daily life. The doctors also advised that delaying surgery may allow the growth to enlarge further, making treatment more difficult later and increasing the risk of complications. The total cost of the surgery is BDT 22,500, which is beyond the family’s financial ability. Information about Laizu’s case reached Helpster through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, and Md Al Amin, Volunteer of Helpster Charity in Chandpur. With compassionate support, Laizu can receive timely surgery and continue her education with confidence, dignity, and hope for a healthier future.
