Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
One-month-old Taifa Islam has brought great joy to his parents, Md. Kawsar Hossain and Jharna Akter, who live in a small tin-made house in Faridganj, Chandpur. His father earns only BDT 8,000 per month as a day laborer, and after spending their limited savings on his emergency hospital treatment and oxygen support, the family is no longer able to afford the urgent eye care he now needs. Doctors have diagnosed Taifa with a serious eye condition in both eyes, and without timely treatment, he may permanently lose his vision. His parents cannot bear the thought that their only son may grow up unable to see their faces or attend school like other children. They learned about Helpster Charity from Nasima Akter, Counsellor at the Pediatric Unit of Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, and now humbly seek support to save their child’s eyesight and future.
Medical history
Taifa Islam, a 1-month-old baby girl, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, she received Anti-VEGF injection on 11.12.2025, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During her stay, her response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. Her retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. She was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Taifa urgently requires Anti-VEGF injections such as Avastin in both eyes, along with routine follow-up examinations to monitor retinal improvement. The doctors are hopeful that with timely treatment, the abnormal blood vessel growth can be controlled, preserving his eyesight and allowing him to grow up like other children. However, if treatment is delayed or not provided, the retinal damage may become irreversible, leading to lifelong blindness. The total cost of the injection and follow-up care is approximately BDT 18,000, which is beyond the family’s financial capacity. With compassionate support from generous donors, Taifa can receive this life-changing treatment and be given the priceless gift of sight — a chance to see the beauty of the world, pursue education, and build a hopeful and independent future.
