Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
One-month-old Ayat Islam is a gentle and fragile baby who lives with her parents, twin brother Anas, and elder sister Maisha in a small tin-made house in Chandpur. After her premature birth and several days of hospital treatment, doctors identified a serious condition in both of her eyes that now requires urgent care to prevent permanent loss of vision. Her father, Md Ibrahim, earns only about BDT 6,000 per month as an auto rickshaw puller, which is the family’s only income and barely covers daily expenses for the five members, making further medical treatment unaffordable. The family has already exhausted their limited savings on her newborn care and is struggling to manage basic household needs. They learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital in Chandpur, and are now humbly seeking support to save Ayat’s eyesight and secure her future.
Medical history
Ayat Islam, a 1-month-old baby girl, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, she received Anti-VEGF injection on 05.02.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During her stay, her response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. Her retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that she will develop clear vision in the future. She was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Ayat urgently requires Anti-VEGF injections such as Avastin in both eyes, along with regular follow-up examinations to ensure healthy retinal development. The doctors are hopeful that with timely treatment, the abnormal blood vessel growth can be controlled, preserving her vision and allowing her to grow like other children. However, if treatment is delayed, irreversible damage may occur, leading to lifelong blindness.
