Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
One-month-old Abdullah Mizi has already endured more hardship than most, spending weeks in the hospital shortly after birth and fighting bravely to survive. Now, doctors have identified a serious condition in both of his eyes that requires urgent treatment to prevent permanent loss of vision. His father, Md Arif, earns only BDT 7,500 per month as a day laborer, which is the family’s only source of income, making it impossible to afford the costly eye treatment after exhausting their savings on previous hospital care. Abdullah lives with his parents in a small tin-made house in rural Hajiganj, where daily life is already a financial struggle. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital in Chandpur, and they now humbly seek support to save their baby’s eyesight and secure his future.
Medical history
Abdullah Mizi, a 1-month-old baby boy, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 20.11.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Abdullah urgently requires Anti-VEGF injections such as Avastin in both eyes, along with regular follow-up examinations to ensure proper retinal development. The doctors are hopeful that with timely treatment, the abnormal vessel growth can be controlled, preserving his eyesight and allowing him to grow normally like other children. However, if treatment is delayed, irreversible damage may occur, leading to lifelong blindness. The total cost for the injection and follow-up care is approximately BDT 18,000, which is far beyond the family’s financial capacity. With compassionate support, Abdullah can be given the priceless gift of sight and the opportunity to live a bright, independent future.
