Background
Fatima Mustapha Bukar is a 19-year-old young woman from a low-income family with limited access to healthcare. She supports her mother at home and enjoys sewing, with hopes of becoming a fashion designer in the future if her health permits. However, her family is unable to afford the cost of medical investigations and treatment without assistance. She presented with several months of progressive lower abdominal swelling and pain, along with early satiety, abdominal discomfort, and menstrual irregularities. Due to financial challenges, she was unable to seek early care, leading to delayed presentation. She was diagnosed with a huge ovarian cyst and is currently planned for surgery, pending financial support for treatment.
Medical history
MEDICAL REPORT FALMATA Mustapha Bukar, a 19-year-old female, was referred to our facility Ovarian cyst. After thorough evaluation and investigation, she underwent elective ovarian cystectomy(Surgery). The surgery was successful without immediate complications. Due to the nature of her sickness, she was admitted for 5 days for close monitoring and treatment. The patient recovered well and was discharged home after 5 days, with follow-up care scheduled for 1 week. Currently, Falmata is doing well, has recovered, and has resumed regular activities. Prognosis
FALMATA, from a low socioeconomic background, was diagnosed several months ago with a huge ovarian cyst but was unable to undergo surgical management due to financial constraints. At UMD, recent re-evaluation confirms persistence of the large ovarian cyst. She currently presents with progressive abdominal distension, associated discomfort, and moderate abdominal pain, which interfere with her daily activities Opinion: Surgery to remove the ovarian cyst is the best solution in Falmata medical condition. The prognosis is favorable with surgical removal of the cyst, as current assessment suggests a benign ovarian cyst. Definitive treatment at this stage will significantly improve her overall health status and quality of life, while preventing potential complications such as anemia secondary to chronic illness, cyst rupture, torsion, or possible malignant transformation.
