Acute appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix, usually caused by obstruction or infection.She was evaluated and diagnosed with sudden right lower abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, associated with mild fever. If untreated, it can lead to appendix rupture, peritonitis, and severe infection. Treatment involves prompt surgical removal of the appendix (appendectomy), along with hydration, pain management, and monitoring.

Background
Hafsat Muhammad is a 16-year-old girl who presented with a 24-hour history of sudden-onset right lower abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and mild fever, associated with restlessness and discomfort. Examination revealed right lower quadrant tenderness with guarding and mild rebound tenderness. Clinical findings were consistent with acute appendicitis. She received supportive care including intravenous fluids and analgesia. Appendectomy is needed to prevent symptom reoccurrence or complications.
Medical history
Hafsat Muhammed, a 16-year-old female, presented with a sudden onset of right lower abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting for the past 24 hours. Pain is severe and constant often worsen with movement, associated with symptoms of loss of appetite and fever. After thorough evaluation, she was diagnosed with Acute appendicitis. She underwent successful Appendectomy surgery without immediate complications. Following a 3-day hospital stay for close monitoring and post-operative care, Hafsat recovered well and was discharged home with a scheduled follow-up appointment for 1 week. She has since fully recovered and resumed regular activities. We appreciate the timely intervention by Helpster and the UMD Medical team.
Prognosis
Khadija was diagnosed of acute appendicitis and this requires immediate attention due to severe symptoms.She is experiencing pain, fever, and vomiting. Prompt surgical removal (Appendectomy) can lead to a quick recovery, and significantly improve her health status with proper post-op care. Delaying treatment risks rupture, peritonitis, and sepsis, making it difficult to treat. Surgical intervention is the best option to ensure her recovery.
