Kidney stones (renal calculi) are hard, pebble-like deposits of minerals and salts—most commonly calcium oxalate—that form inside the kidneys when urine becomes too concentrated. They range in size from tiny grains to large, jagged masses, often causing severe pain in the back, side, or groin when moving through the urinary tract.

Background
Aisha is a 17-year-old previously healthy girl who presented with a 1-week history of left-sided colicky flank pain radiating to the lower abdomen, associated with dysuria, urinary frequency, and intermittent hematuria. There was no fever, vomiting, or prior urinary tract infections. Clinical evaluation and investigations confirmed a diagnosis of left renal (kidney) stone. Due to the size and location of the stone, she is planned for surgical removal (nephrolithotomy), pending approval under the Helpster Charity Foundation support program.
Medical history
MEDICAL DISCHARGE REPORT INRESPECT OF AISHA M. MUKTAR, FEMALE,AGE 17 YEARS OLD AISHA,a 17-year-old girl, presented with a history of flank pain,lower back pain, accompanied by vomiting,after thorough evaluation and investigation, she was diagnosed with kidney stone. She underwent successful Nephrolithotomy surgery without immediate complications. Due to the nature of her condition, she was admitted for 3 days for close monitoring and post-operative care. Aisha, recovered well and was discharged home after 3 days, with a follow-up appointment scheduled for 1 week. Currently, she is doing well, has fully recovered, and has resumed her regular activities. We appreciate the timely intervention by Helpster and the UMD Medical team.
Prognosis
Aisha is suffering from Kidney stone which causes intense pain (back, side, groin), nausea, vomiting, and blood in the urine, disrupting daily life; if untreated, they can lead to severe infections, blocked urine flow, and long-term kidney damage. Removal of the kidney stone is the best treatment option at this point due to the size of the stone, which is too large to pass through the urethra. The surgery is expected to have a good prognosis, as Aisha does not have any underlying conditions that could interfere with the procedure.
