Background
Hussaini is a 14year old boy who is playful, loves playing hand ball and dreams of becoming an engineer when he grows up. 3 weeks ago, he developed bilateral flank pain, dysuria, and lower abdominal pains. Currently, he is having severe pains and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Medical history
Hussaini received a diagnosis of bilateral hydronephrosis caused by ureteric calculus. After thorough evaluation, he underwent surgery on January 2, 2024, and was discharged on January 10, 2024. A follow-up appointment is scheduled for January 17, 2024. Since the procedure, Hussaini has experienced improved health and happiness. He can now urinate without any pain, allowing him to play and attend school with ease.
Prognosis
Open surgery may be needed to remove very large stones or address complicated situations, as well as antibiotic treatment. If left untreated, this condition can lead to severe complications, including permanent kidney damage and infection.
