Fanna is diagnosed with severe Malaria plus Acute Respiratory tract infection. Malaria is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease caused by parasites transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Once inside the human body, the parasites multiply in the liver and then infect red blood cells, causing recurrent cycles of symptoms, including high fever, chills, fatigue, and, in severe cases, organ damage or failure.This stage of the disease is defined by the evidence of vital organ dysfunction.Severe malaria occurs when infections are complicated by serious organ failures or abnormalities in the patient's blood or metabolism.

Background
Fanna is an 8 year old girl who likes helping out her mother with house chores. She dreams of becoming a nurse in the future. She developed fever, headache, loss of appetite and catarrh over 5 days ago. Fever has reduced. However, her condition got worse this morning as she started vomiting with respiratory difficulties.
Medical history
Fanna was treated with IV artesunate, Biophin, amoksiclav, Paediatric saline, multivitamins and Paracetamol. She was discharged home on November 25th.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
