Sammy had severe malaria; he had thought it was just a minor illness and had initially been given some over the counter medication hoping that he would get better. He was admitted and stayed in hospital for 3 days before he got an improvement and was discharged after full recovery
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
