Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About heart
Samira Akter has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia with bronchiolitis, a serious lung infection that affects the small airways in the lungs of infants. This condition causes severe cough, fever, wheezing, and difficulty breathing, making it hard for her to get enough oxygen. Because she is only five months old, her lungs are still very fragile, and the infection can quickly make her weak and exhausted. Without proper and timely treatment, the illness can become life-threatening, as the breathing problems may worsen and lead to severe complications.

Background
Samira Akter is a 5-month-old baby girl living with her parents in a small overcrowded shelter in Geneva Bihari Camp, Dhaka. Her father, Mortuza, works as a rickshaw puller earning about 8,500 BDT per month, which barely covers food and basic household needs, making it impossible for the family to afford the hospital expenses for Samira’s treatment. When Samira developed cold, cough, and fever, her condition quickly worsened and she began to struggle with breathing, leading to her admission to the hospital where she is currently receiving treatment in the PICU for severe pneumonia with bronchiolitis. The family learned about Helpster Charity during a medical outreach camp organized in Geneva Camp, which gave them hope for support during this difficult time. Without proper and timely treatment, the severe lung infection could worsen, leading to serious breathing failure and life-threatening complications for the baby.
Medical history
Five-month-old Samira Akter became seriously ill when she developed cough, fever, and difficulty breathing due to a severe lung infection. As her breathing problems worsened, she was taken to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd., Dhaka, where doctors diagnosed her with severe pneumonia with bronchiolitis and admitted her to the PICU for intensive care. She received oxygen support, nebulization, antibiotics, and close medical monitoring for several days. With proper treatment, her condition gradually improved, and she was later moved to the general ward before being discharged on 20 February 2026. Samira is now recovering at home with prescribed medicines and follow-up care advised by the doctors.
Prognosis
Doctors have recommended hospitalization with close monitoring, where Samira first required care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) due to her severe breathing difficulty and critical condition. After stabilization, she will be shifted to the general ward to continue treatment with antibiotics, nebulization, and other supportive therapies to clear the lung infection and improve her breathing. With proper treatment and care, doctors expect that Samira’s lungs will gradually recover, allowing her to breathe normally and continue growing as a healthy child. However, if she does not receive this timely treatment, the infection in her lungs could worsen rapidly, leading to severe respiratory failure and dangerous complications. In such a fragile infant, untreated severe pneumonia can become life-threatening and may put her young life at serious risk.
