Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About heart

Shihab Hosen has been diagnosed with severe coarctation of the aorta along with severe pneumonia. The narrowing of his main blood vessel makes it difficult for his heart to pump blood effectively to his body, putting extra strain on his heart. At the same time, the lung infection has caused breathing difficulty and low oxygen levels, further weakening his condition. Together, these serious health problems place him at high risk and require urgent and specialized medical treatment.

Thank you for saving this life!

Background

Three-year-old Shihab Hosen lives with his parents, Munsur Ali and Sayma Begum, and three other family members in a single overcrowded room in Geneva Bihari Camp. His father works as a barber and earns about 8,500 BDT per month, which barely covers rent and daily meals, leaving the family with no savings for medical emergencies. Shihab is a quiet and affectionate child, but recently he has become weak and breathless, unable to play like other children due to his serious heart condition and recent pneumonia that required hospitalization. The cost of his treatment is far beyond what his parents can afford, and without proper medical care, his condition could become life-threatening. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp in Geneva Camp and reached out with hope, seeking support to save their son’s life.

Medical history

The patient Shihab Hosen, aged 3 years, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on 16 February 2026 with the diagnosis of Severe Pneumonia along with Severe Coarctation of the Aorta. He received conservative management, including oxygen therapy, intravenous antibiotics, nebulization, and continuous monitoring under specialist care. After showing gradual improvement in his respiratory condition, he was discharged on 20 February 2026 with advice for strict follow-up and urgent evaluation by a pediatric cardiologist for further heart treatment. Although his pneumonia has improved, his congenital heart condition still requires specialized intervention to ensure long-term recovery. Shihab’s family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity for the support provided during this critical time.

Prognosis

Doctors have advised hospitalization under a pediatrician with injectable antibiotics, oxygen therapy, nebulization, continuous monitoring of vital signs, and an echocardiogram with consultation from a cardiologist. With timely and proper treatment, the lung infection can be controlled, his breathing will improve, and his overall strength can gradually return. Careful heart evaluation and follow-up will also help doctors plan the necessary treatment for his heart condition, giving him a better chance at a healthier and more active childhood. However, if left untreated, the infection could worsen, leading to severe breathing failure, and the untreated heart condition could result in serious complications such as heart failure or even sudden death. Early and complete medical care is therefore critical to protect his life and future.
