Bronchopneumonia is a bacterial infection of the lungs that affects the smaller airways and surrounding lung tissue. It commonly presents in children with high fever, persistent cough, fast or difficult breathing, chest pain, weakness, and poor appetite. On examination, there is abnormal breath with crepitations,if her condition is not treated promptly, it can lead to serious complications, but with early administration of appropriate antibiotics, oxygen support when needed, hydration, and close monitoring,she will recover fully.

Fatima Usman is a 7-year-old girl from a large family with limited financial means, where her parents depend on daily earnings and often struggle to access proper healthcare. Despite these challenges, she enjoys drawing and dreams of becoming a doctor to care for sick children in her community. She presented with a 5-day history of persistent cough, high-grade fever, fast breathing, and chest pain, along with difficulty breathing, poor appetite, weakness, and disturbed sleep. On examination, she was ill-looking, febrile, and tachypneic, with chest findings consistent with infection. She was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia. She was treated with intravenous antibiotics, antipyretics, hydration, and close monitoring, leading to significant improvement in her condition.
Medical history
,a 7-year-old girl, presented with a history of persistent cough,high grade fever and fast breathing accompanied by loss of appetite since 1 week. After thorough evaluation and investigation, she was diagnosed with Bronchopneumonia.Treatment commenced with intravenous antibiotics,IV fluid with other supportive treatment in the hospital for 3 days.Slowly,she recovered, symptoms subsided,and she regained her strength.She was discharged home with her parents,and she can return to school.Hauwa and her family are deeply thankful to Helpster charity foundation for their kindness and timely help that gave her a second chance at health and hope.
