Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Twelve-year-old Israt Jahan is a shy and polite Class Seven student who loves helping her mother and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. She lives in a camp with her father Abdul Rajjak, a day laborer earning only 6,000 taka per month, her mother Fensi Begum, and her elder brother Imran, and their limited income barely covers daily food and necessities. For the past year, Israt has been suffering from painful swelling due to a left-sided inguinal hernia, yet her family cannot afford the surgery the doctor has advised. Without timely treatment, the hernia may become strangulated, causing severe pain, intestinal blockage, and life-threatening complications. After learning about Helpster Charity from another beneficiary, her worried parents reached out with hope to save their daughter from further suffering and protect her future.

Prognosis

Doctors have recommended herniotomy to repair Israt’s inguinal hernia and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, she is expected to recover fully, experience relief from pain and swelling, and return to her normal daily activities and school life without discomfort. Early treatment will also prevent the hernia from increasing in size or causing additional health problems. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become incarcerated or strangulated, cutting off blood supply to the intestine and leading to severe pain, bowel obstruction, and potentially life-threatening complications. Prompt surgical intervention is therefore essential to protect her health and ensure a safe and healthy future.
