Background
Nine-year-old Riya Moni is a gentle and devoted madrasa student who dreams of becoming an Alema and spends her free time helping her mother care for her younger sister, Ayesha, while her elder brother Rofik studies beside her. Her father, Rasel Rahman, earns only 6,000 taka per month as a day laborer, which is not enough to properly support their five-member family living in fragile housing conditions, let alone afford surgery. For two years, Riya has suffered from severe throat pain, enlarged tonsils, recurrent fever, and difficulty swallowing, and doctors at New Evercare Hospital have now advised surgery after diagnosing enlarged tonsils with adenoids. Without timely treatment, her condition could worsen, leading to repeated infections, breathing problems during sleep, and serious complications affecting her growth and studies. After learning about Helpster Charity through a doctor, the family is seeking support as their only hope to restore Riya’s health and allow her to continue pursuing her dreams.
Medical history
Riya Moni was admitted to the hospital on 07.06.2026 with adenotonsillitis, requiring surgical treatment due to persistent throat infection and enlarged tonsils and adenoids. After a thorough medical evaluation and preoperative preparation, she underwent a successful adenotonsillectomy on the same day. Following the surgery, she received proper medical management, including pain relief, antibiotics, hydration, continuous monitoring, and attentive nursing care to ensure a safe recovery. Her condition improved steadily without any postoperative complications, and she gradually resumed eating and drinking comfortably. With the dedicated care of the medical team and regular observation, Riya Moni recovered well and was discharged from the hospital in a stable, safe, and healthy condition on 10.06.2026.
Prognosis
Doctors have recommended adenotonsillectomy to remove the enlarged tonsils and adenoids and prevent further recurrent infections. With this surgery, Riya is expected to experience relief from throat pain, improved swallowing, better sleep, and fewer episodes of fever, allowing her to focus on her studies and daily activities. The procedure will also reduce the risk of airway obstruction and support her healthy growth and development. However, if left untreated, repeated severe infections and airway blockage during sleep could lead to serious complications, including breathing difficulty, severe infection spreading to nearby areas, and in rare cases may become life-threatening. Timely surgical intervention is therefore essential to protect her health and ensure a safe, healthy future.
