Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Eight-month-old Tasmim Akter is a gentle and cheerful baby who brings happiness to her small family, especially to her parents and her elder brother Sadiqur Rahman, a Class-1 student who loves playing with her. The family lives in a crowded rented house, and her father Tuhin Ahmed, a day laborer earning about 8,000 BDT per month, struggles to support the four family members while her mother Shamima Akter cares for the children at home. Recently, Tasmim became seriously ill with fever, cough, runny nose, and breathing difficulties, and doctors at Narayanganj Poly Clinic diagnosed her with severe pneumonia that requires urgent medical treatment. Because of their financial hardship, her parents cannot afford the hospital expenses needed for proper care. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana, the worried family is seeking support, as without timely treatment Tasmim’s breathing problems could worsen and put her young life in serious danger.

Medical history

Tasmim 8 month -old child, had been battling recurrent respiratory tract infections for the past few months, but this time, her condition worsened as she developed severe pneumonia. Despite multiple courses of antibiotics from local pharmacies, her health continued to decline, leaving him lethargic and in a toxic state. In desperate need of emergency hospitalization, she received critical care at Narayanganj Polyclinic, including oxygen therapy, nebulization with sulbutamol, ipratropium bromide, budesonide, and injectable antibiotics, along with hydrocortisone due to the seriousness of her condition. Tasmim was admitted on 25/2/26, received treatment, and was discharged from the hospital on 2/3/26. Now, after receiving the care she needed, Tasmim is doing well and has returned home, bringing joy back to her family. With tears of gratitude in their eyes, her parents said, "Thank you to Helpster Donors and Narayanganj Polyclinic; we are forever grateful for your support!"

Prognosis

Doctors have recommended immediate hospitalization, intravenous antibiotic therapy, nebulization, and supportive care to treat Mehejabin’s severe pneumonia and stabilize her breathing. With timely and proper treatment, the infection can be controlled, her oxygen levels can improve, and she can gradually recover and continue normal growth and development. Close medical monitoring is especially important at her young age to prevent complications. However, if left untreated, severe pneumonia in a two-month-old baby can rapidly worsen, leading to respiratory failure, spread of infection in the bloodstream, or even death. Early and complete treatment is critical to save her life and protect her future health.
