When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About severe malaria & lrti
Severe malaria is a life-threatening, emergency condition caused primarily by Plasmodium falciparum parasites. Lower Respiratory Tract Infections (LRTI) are infections that affect the airways (below the level of the larynx), including the trachea and the alveolar sacs. Severe malaria with lower respiratory tract infection is a critical co-morbid condition, especially in children in endemic regions. It presents with high-grade fever, chills, cough, fast breathing, chest indrawing, and general weakness. Severe malaria may cause anemia, jaundice, hypoglycemia, and altered consciousness, while the respiratory infection contributes to hypoxia, crepitations, and respiratory distress. Laboratory findings may show Plasmodium parasitemia and chest imaging suggestive of pneumonia.

Background
Isah is 1 year old male child who happens to be the only child. The child is living with his parents in a small village. The father is a laborer and the mother is a house wife. They barely have what to eat because of financial constraints. They live in a 2 rooms apartment having a pit toilet and they don't have access to electricity. The only source of water they have is the well around their community. Issah a 1 year old was brought to our facility with complaints of fever, cough and runny nose for the past 1 week. The fever became high yesterday at night with postprandial vomiting. On examination, a 1-year-old male child, looking very ill (38.3o C) and crying persistently. He is tachypneic, anicteric, acyanosed. Not pale. He was diagnosed with severe malaria and lower respiratory tract infection. The family are not having the money to pay for their the child's hospital bills, they contacted Helpster Charity through a volunteer for the medical support. The child was brought and properly evaluated.
Medical history
Issah a 1-year-old was brought to our facility with complaints of fever, cough and runny nose for the past 1 week. The fever became high yesterday at night with postprandial vomiting. On examination, a 1-year-old male child, looking very ill (38.3o C) and crying persistently. He is tachypneic, unicteric, acyanosed. Not pale. He was diagnosed with severe malaria and lower respiratory tract infection. Treatment commenced with injection antimalarials, injection antibiotics and other supportive care until patient was stable. He was discharged and scheduled for follow up after 1 week. The family are so excited and remained thankful to Helpster Charity for the medical support.
Prognosis
Issah a 1 year old was brought to our facility with complaints of fever, cough and runny nose for the past 1 week. The fever became high yesterday at night with postprandial vomiting. On examination, a 1-year-old male child, looking very ill (38.3o C) and crying persistently. He is tachypneic, unicteric, acyanosed. Not pale. He was diagnosed with severe malaria and lower respiratory tract infection. The combination increases disease severity, risk of complications, and mortality. Prompt treatment with antimalarials, appropriate antibiotics, oxygen therapy, and supportive care is essential for improved clinical outcomes. Prognosis is improved is treated early and appropraitely.
