Background
Hassan Auwal is a 5-year-old boy likely to be curious, energetic, and playful, enjoying typical activities for his age such as playing with toys, outdoor games, and exploring his surroundings. At this stage, his dreams and interests are likely imaginative, such as wanting to be a superhero, explore, or engage in fun adventures, reflecting a healthy, active, and curious personality. Hassan's problem started 3 days ago with high fever, lower abdominal pain, painful and frequent urination, urgency, and intermittent back pain. When he presented at our hospital, he was evaluated and diagnosed with a severe Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) caused by E. coli. Currently, he is moderately ill and febrile, receiving IV antibiotics, pain relief, and hydration, and is expected to recover fully with proper treatment.
Medical history
Hassan Auwal, a 5-year-old boy, was admitted with a severe urinary tract infection caused by E. coli, presenting with fever, lower abdominal pain, painful and frequent urination, urgency, and intermittent back pain, with risks of kidney damage or sepsis if untreated, and he received intravenous antibiotics, pain relief, and adequate hydration with close monitoring of urine output, temperature, and overall response throughout his hospital stay; his fever resolved, his pain eased, and his urinary function returned to normal, and he was discharged on 2nd March 2026 in stable condition with oral antibiotics to continue at home, expected to recover fully and return to normal health, with sincere thanks to Helpster Charity for sponsoring his treatment.
Prognosis
Hassan Auwal has a severe urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by E. coli, leading to fever, lower abdominal pain, painful and frequent urination, urgency, and intermittent back pain. It is serious but treatable with antibiotics and proper care. Untreated or severe urinary tract infections (UTIs) can lead to serious, sometimes life-threatening, complications, including permanent kidney damage, sepsis, premature birth, and recurrent infections. The doctor’s prognosis is good with treatment; Hassan is expected to recover fully and return to normal health. If left untreated, the infection could spread to the kidneys or bloodstream, causing serious complications and potentially life-threatening illness.
