Mohammed Hasan is an 8-month-old baby boy, one of a pair of twins born in the Rohingya refugee camps, where his family lives in a small bamboo and tarpaulin shelter with his parents and five young siblings. Despite the hardship of displacement, Hasan is a calm and gentle child who brings joy to his family, especially to his twin brother Mohammed Hossain who is growing normally. However, Hasan has been suffering from painful swelling in his groin since early infancy, causing severe discomfort, irritability, and difficulty feeding. His father struggles to provide even basic necessities for the large family in the refugee camp, making it impossible to afford medical treatment. Without timely care, the swelling could lead to serious complications and life-threatening pain for the baby, which is why the family sought help through Helpster Charity after learning about it from volunteer Ahammod Ali Azad.

Mohammad Hasan, a 12-months-old male child, was admitted on 23.04.2026 with complaints of right-sided scrotal swelling, associated with intermittent groin pain and swelling for one year at Orion Hospital through Helpster volunteer Ali Azad. On admission, a thorough clinical examination and necessary investigations were performed to confirm the diagnosis. The patient was diagnosed with a right-sided reducible incomplete direct hernia and subsequently underwent herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) under General Anesthesia. Post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and follow-up, was provided to ensure full recovery. He remained hospitalized for four days, and the operation was performed on 26.03.2026. The patient was discharged on 28.04.2026 in a stable condition with medications, dietary advice, and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

Doctors have recommended an elective herniotomy under general anesthesia, along with proper pre-operative assessment and post-operative wound care, as the best treatment for Mohammed Hasan’s condition. This surgery will repair the swelling in his groin and relieve the pain and discomfort he experiences during crying or movement. With timely treatment, Hasan is expected to recover well and grow normally like his twin brother, allowing him to feed comfortably and develop in a healthy way. However, if the condition is left untreated, the swelling could worsen and the intestine may become trapped, causing severe pain and a life-threatening emergency. Early surgical care will therefore greatly improve Hasan’s quality of life and protect his future health.
