Haruna is the 2nd child of his parents. He is currently staying with his single mother who is taking care of them and his sister. He is in a government primary school. He wishes to become an engineer when he grows up. The single mother finds it difficult to take care of the children. They live in a 2 rooms apartment having a pit toilet. They make use of water from the well for their daily activities, they have access to electricity. The mother was so worried as the children have not been going to school due to persistent illness and inability to take the child to the hospital because of financial constraints, they were told about Helpster Charity by a beneficiary and they contacted a volunteer for guidance. They were brought to Albishir hospital for proper medical evaluation. Presenting complain: high grade fever, abdominal pain, low appetite, vomiting everything, retrosternal pain, painful defecation. On examination, a 9-year-old male child, looks very ill, warm to touch (37.6o C), anicteric, cyanosed, palor. After thorough examination and investigation, he was diagnosed with Severe Malaria and Enteric fever.

Haruna, a 9 year old male child presented with complaints of high grade fever, abdominal pain, low appetite and vomitting everything, he also has retrosternal pain and painful defecation. On examination, a 9-year-old male child, looks very ill, warm to touch (37.6o C), unicteric, cyanosed, palor. He was diagnosed with Severe Malaria and Enteric fever. He was served with medications which comprises of injection antimalarials, injection antibiotics and other supportive care until patient was stable during hospital stay, he was closely monitored to ensure full recovery until discharge. He was given some take home orals, patient is to return for follow up after 1 week. The mother looks happy and thanked Helpster Charity for the medical care.

We treat severe malaria in Haruna as a critical emergency requiring immediate hospitalization and intravenous medication to prevent rapid organ failure. Also the enteric fever is a serious systemic infection that requires prompt antibiotic therapy to prevent life-threatening risks like intestinal perforation. The dual infection increases disease severity, delays diagnosis, and raises mortality risk. Prognosis depends on prompt treatment with effective antimalarials, appropriate antibiotics, fluid management, and supportive care is essential for improved clinical outcomes.
