Fayshal Ahmed has been diagnosed with a strangulated right inguinal hernia, a serious condition where a part of the intestine becomes trapped and its blood supply is cut off. This led to sudden severe pain, swelling in the groin, repeated vomiting, and inability to pass stool, indicating that the condition had become critical. Although he had mild swelling for several months, it suddenly worsened on 15/03/2026, turning into an emergency situation. Without urgent treatment, the affected intestine could become damaged or die, leading to life-threatening complications.

Background
Fayshal Ahmed, a cheerful and active 10-year-old boy, lives with his parents in a small, overcrowded shelter in Geneva Camp, Dhaka, where difficult living conditions have made access to proper healthcare very limited. His father, Mohammad Mostakin, works as a day laborer earning around 9,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to support the family, making it impossible for them to afford the urgent surgery he now needs, while his mother, Rozy Akter, cares for him with deep concern. For months, Fayshal had a swelling that would come and go, but suddenly it became painful, did not go away, and was followed by severe abdominal pain and vomiting, leaving him weak and distressed. Without immediate treatment, his condition could become life-threatening, as the trapped tissue may lose blood supply and lead to serious complications. The family, who learned about Helpster Charity through a community outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity on 16.02.2026
Medical history
The patient Fayshal Ahmed, aged 10, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 16/03/2026 with the diagnosis of strangulated right inguinal hernia. He underwent emergency herniotomy surgery on the same day to treat this life-threatening condition. Following the procedure, he showed steady improvement under proper medical care. He stayed in the hospital for 2 days and was discharged on 17/03/2026 with advice for medications, hygiene, and regular follow-up. The patient and his family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity for the support provided during this critical time.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, emergency exploration with herniotomy is essential to save Fayshal Ahmed’s life and prevent further damage to the intestine. Through this surgery, the trapped portion of the intestine will be released and blood flow restored, relieving pain and resolving the blockage. With timely treatment, he is expected to recover well and return to his normal activities without long-term complications. However, if left untreated, the affected intestine could lose its blood supply completely, leading to tissue death, severe infection, and life-threatening complications. Immediate surgical intervention is therefore critical to ensure his survival and full recovery.
