Shahid Hossain has been diagnosed with acute watery diarrhoea, a condition in which a child passes frequent loose or watery stools several times a day. His illness is also accompanied by vomiting, fever, reduced urine output, and difficulty drinking fluids, which indicates that his body is losing a large amount of water and essential salts. This loss of fluids can quickly lead to dehydration, making the child weak, tired, and unable to function normally. Doctors have advised immediate treatment with oral or intravenous fluids, medicines, and close monitoring to restore hydration and prevent serious complications.

Background
Five-year-old Shahid Hossain is a bright and thoughtful nursery student who enjoys drawing and dreams of becoming a leader one day. He lives in a crowded camp with his parents, his elder brother Samir, and his infant brother Ferdous, where his father Md. Monsur, a hawker earning about 6,000 BDT per month, struggles to support the entire family. Recently, Shahid became seriously ill with fever, vomiting, and frequent loose stools, and doctors at New Evercare Hospital diagnosed him with acute watery diarrhea, a common illness in their camp due to poor sanitation and unsafe drinking water. Because he is weak and unable to drink properly, the illness could quickly lead to severe dehydration, which can be life-threatening for a child if untreated. After learning about Helpster Charity through other beneficiaries and community outreach by volunteers Shahid Afridi and Firoz, his worried family is seeking support so that Shahid can receive proper treatment and recover safely.
Medical history
Shahid Hossain was admitted on 08.03.2026 with acute watery diarrhoea. At the time of admission, he was suffering from frequent loose stools, vomiting, fever, and signs of dehydration. The medical team immediately started treatment, including intravenous fluids to restore hydration, medications to control diarrhoea and vomiting, and close monitoring of his vital signs. During his hospital stay, he received proper medical management and attentive nursing care, which gradually improved his condition. His vomiting stopped, the frequency of loose stools decreased, his fever subsided, and he was able to take oral fluids and food. After several days of observation and treatment, Shahid Hossain recovered well, became stable, and was discharged safely on 11.03.2026. He is now in a secure condition and expected to continue regaining strength at home.
Prognosis
The doctor has recommended immediate hospital admission for Shahid so that he can receive proper hydration, feeding, and other supportive care. With timely treatment, his fluid levels can be restored, his weakness will improve, and he will have a strong chance of making a full recovery. Supportive therapy will help his body regain strength and prevent further complications. However, if he is left untreated, his dehydration may worsen rapidly, leading to severe illness and possible organ failure. Without urgent care, this condition could become life-threatening for such a young child.
