Background
Adnan is a two year old boy, in a poor family of five. He is jovial and loves to play with his friends and toys. About three months ago, he developed a swelling in the left scrotum. Currently, he is not experiencing any symptoms but occasionally develops pains at the swelling site.
Medical history
A case of Left Congenital Hydrocele was admitted on the 17th December, 2023.The surgery was performed successfully and was discharged on 20th December, 2023.Patient is feeling better now.
Prognosis
The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
